Swimming Pool Building Steps
Swimming pools are some of the most beautiful additions to any backyard. It is necessary to hire a swimming pool contractor because building an in ground swimming pool is a very complicated process. Steps need to be followed and proper procedure needs to be followed to ensure your swimming pool will last for years. This short overview of swimming pool building will outline the steps and should make you understand why you need to hire a reliable swimming pool contractor to complete the building process. We will take you through excavation, steel, plumbing, electrical, gunite, tile, and finishing your swimming pool.
The first step to any swimming pool building project is the excavation of the swimming pool area. The area of your pool is sketched out first using construction spray paint and cones are places around the area. A large backhoe will make its way into your backyard to begin the excavation process. There is usually one backhoe operator and workers manually digging out the excavation site as well. During this phase, dump trucks will be coming and going from your property to dump the soil and excavated material. The issues that can happen during this stage are as follows: the excavators could run into thick rock, heavy equipment could ruin your driveway, your yard may be inaccessible (in which case trees or debris need to be removed). This last point is the most important point with excavation as the more open the area is, the easier the excavation will be which will keep your costs down.
When the swimming pool is excavated, it’s time for the steel or rebar to be bent and put in place in the excavated hole. This is a very important step as the rebar holds the form of the swimming pool, braces the walls, and holds back the water. The steel needs to be thick enough to withstand this weight and needs to be arranged in an appropriate interlocking form for the highest efficiency and reliability. The thickest parts of the rebar are around the base of pool where the walls meet the floor, around the center of the swimming pool, and around the top border of the swimming pool. Also, if you have ledges, steps, love seats, etc, they are also formed by rebar at this time. There will be a team of pool contractors on site that will bend the rebar and weld the rebar into place.
Once the rebar is in place, it is time to run the plumbing and electricity to your swimming pool to power any swimming pool lights you have decided to install. The pool is fitted for skimmers, filters, jets, fluorescent lights, fiber optic lights, halogen lights, etc. This is a raw pipe fitting process. The finished plumbing end electric process take place after the gunite is sprayed and in place. This brings the swimming pool installation process to the next phase, the gunite.
When your pool is framed with the plumbing and the electricity, it is time to shoot gunite into your swimming pool. If you are not familiar with the term gunite, also known as shotcrete is a spray able 4000 pound high yield concrete that is sprayed into the rebar of the swimming pool. This process is very messy and usually takes about a day to finish. There will be a team of anywhere from 4 – 7 pool contractors during this phase. There is usually a person spraying the concrete and the rest of the crew is responsible for smoothing and forming the concrete. The gunite is sprayed from the top of the swimming pool down to the center of the pool.
When the gunite is dry and ready, usually after a few days until it has initially cured, it is time to tile the inside of the swimming pool, install coping around the top of the swimming pool, and plaster around the swimming pool. There are many different types of tiling, styles of coping, and styles of plaster coating – some have warranties longer than others. Also, during this phase, the plumbing that was set in place before the gunite will be connected to the pumps and chemical equipment, any electrical wiring will be completed and finished, and any decking will be installed around the swimming pool.
The last step of swimming pool building is the best step, filling the swimming pool and swimming in your swimming pool. The entire pool building process as described above takes 2 – 3 weeks to complete. As you can see through the steps, the process is very complicated and you need to hire a swimming pool contractor you can trust.
Learning to Swim As an Adult – Swimming Lessons For All Ages
Some kids learn to swim before they can walk, probably because they have parents who like to spend a lot of time in the water so naturally they take the kids swimming. Kids whose parents don’t swim are pretty likely to learn to swim at an older age than kids whose parents do swim. And some kids never learn to swim and become adults who can’t fully enjoy pool or beach parties, or evening swimming with their own kids.
A good way to avoid this situation is to take adult swimming classes. A good place to look for adult swimming classes is your local YMCA or YWCA. These classes are a great place for an adult to learn to swim in the presence of other adults in the same situation, and they’re usually pretty affordable compared to other facilities’ swimming lessons.
Most of the classes “at the Y” will be broken down into groups of adults of different skill levels, from the person who’s nervous in the water and doesn’t like to get her face wet to the person who can swim a little but wants to feel more confident in the water and get some expert swimming instruction.
A beginner will be taught how to handle himself in the water, from the way to hold his body, to how to breathe and how to hold the limbs when attempting to float. Swimming classes like this will usually have practice sessions where everyone puts his or her face in the water and then lifts to breathe before trying it again. It’s a very gentle way to get used to being in the water and starting to feel comfortable with it.
Intermediate swimming lessons are for the adult who can swim a little or who needs to brush up on rusty swimming skills. And most facilities will offer some type of private swimming classes at a higher cost. Some adults simply feel more comfortable with private instruction. And some are too afraid of the water to be in a group while submerging his or her face or trying to float. They can learn to swim with this option.
Many adults who have always been unable or unwilling to learn to swim get interested in taking swimming lessons when they have kids of their own. Look in your local area for combined classes where adults can learn at the same time as their kids. Even if your kids can already swim a little, all kids should take swimming lessons and learn the basics properly to be able to take care of themselves in the water, so there’s no better time to learn to swim for yourself.
And if you have a small child, parent/infant or parent/toddler swimming classes may be available. The younger children are exposed to the water, the more likely they’ll grow up to be strong swimmers who enjoy the water. These types of swimming lessons can not only teach you to swim, but provide great bonding time for you and your child.

A Golf Club Shopping Guide for Beginners
You enter a golf store and are overwhelmed with all the irons, woods, putters and wedges that you see along with the golf balls, clothing and other golf accessories. If you are just starting to play golf, the task of selecting the golf clubs that would work for you could be a bit challenging.
First, you would need to know what a set of clubs is made up of. There are four main types of golf clubs: the Woods, the Irons, the Wedges and the Putter. Today, you may also come across hybrid clubs. A hybrid club is a cross of a wood and an iron. People who are having a hard time hitting their long irons, like a 2 or 3 iron, prefer to use these clubs. You are allowed to have up to 14 clubs and could be in any combination. An example of a good combination for your golf clubs would be one driver, one 4 wood, 3 through 9 iron, a lob wedge, a gap wedge, a sand wedge, a pitching wedge and one putter. However, the combination would entirely be up to you or the golfer as different combinations work for different people.
You then need to know your available options as you buy your golf clubs. You can either buy used or new. Although you would definitely save more if you choose to buy used golf clubs, you may encounter some issues like cracked shafts, worn grips and other problems that a new set would surely not have. If you are buying your first set, it usually makes more sense to buy new ones.
After deciding on buying a new or old set, you now have to decide if you will be getting a complete set or will just buy individual clubs by your own to make one set. Putting together your own set would be a bit more expensive compared to just buying a set of clubs that is already complete. Purchasing a complete set also saves you the hassle and the time in making decisions.
If you are a beginner, it is recommended to buy the complete starter set, which includes one driver, a 3 wood, a 5 wood, the 3 through 9 irons, one pitching wedge and your putter. This could also include one sand wedge and a bag for your golf clubs. Although this set only has 11 or 12 clubs, as your game progresses, you could decide for yourself on which club to add to your set. You could eventually add a 2 iron, another wedge or a hybrid club.
Keep in mind that getting expensive golf clubs will not improve your game or help you play better. You should not spend $300 on just one driver if you could spend a lot less to get everything you need in one package. Getting a complete set would be the best option to save you money that would later on need for replacing lost golf balls.

Vanishing Edge Swimming Pools
There is a new swimming pool building technique that’s turning heads. It’s called a vanishing edge swimming pool. Actually, this style of swimming pool has been around for years but it is starting to gain popularity. Many of our customers are asking us about negative edge or vanishing edge swimming pools including questions about design, practicality, and if any home can have this type of pool. For the rest of the article, we will inform anyone interested in a new swimming pool about vanishing edge swimming pools.
The style of a vanishing edge swimming pool is unique. The essence of a vanishing edge swimming pool is making the swimming pool appear as though it is vanishing into the horizon. When the swimming pool contractor builds this type of pool, there is one end of the pool that that has no edges or walls. The water appears to be spilling off into the horizon which creates a beautiful look for any home. However, this type of swimming pool looks best in areas where the home or the swimming pool is elevated, such as homes built on a cliff, large hill, homes near oceans, or homes with open views in their backyard. The negative edge area will be overlooking the edge in your home. Water appears to spill over the side where it is captured by a ledge and recycled back into the swimming pool. This type of swimming pool is perfect for homes with overlooks as it doesn’t take away from the natural beauty.
People are choosing infinity pools and negative edge swimming pools because of their aesthetic beauty. And, because vanishing edge swimming pools can only be made with gunite, the swimming pool contractor can create any shape possible. This means full customization of your swimming pool so it will look great in your already beautiful backyard. And, even more than any other swimming pool, the negative edge pool will look great with exotic coping materials and swimming pool tiles. Because the vanishing edge type of swimming pool is more expensive than traditional gunite swimming pools, customers are typically prepared to spend the extra money on exotic stone and lighting to accentuate the vanishing edge pool.
As we stated before, infinity swimming pools can be installed anywhere in any backyard. However, we feel that these pools are best suited for homes with elevations and homes with open spaced views in their backyard. Great candidates that fit this profile are homes in the woods, homes at the shore, homes in the mountains, and any home with beautiful overlooks including homes in the city. As stated before, the negative edge swimming pool works best in an area where the swimming pool flows with the natural setting in your yard and your property. Location is the most important factor when you think about installing a negative edge swimming pool. If you are happy with your view, then a negative edge pool will work for you. If your view is of a cluttered neighbor’s yard or an overgrown area, you may want to think twice about a negative or vanishing edge swimming pool. The vanishing edge portion of your swimming pool will become the focal point of the area where your eye will visit each time you are in your backyard. You want to make sure that the view, the angle, and the location is something that you will never tire of.
Negative edge swimming pools require a swimming pool contractor who understands the pumps and technology involved and is also an expert in excavation and gunite swimming pool application. A negative edge swimming pool is one of the most expensive swimming pools you can choose to install, and if you have the money, it is one of the most beautiful and timeless investments you can ever make. When choosing the right swimming pool contractor for this, make sure they have experience in this medium and they will be a full service pool contractor. The last thing any homeowner wants is a beautiful pool with muddy landscaping surrounding it. Make sure your vanishing edge pool contractor is creative, experienced, and will leave your yard as pristine as it was before you installed your negative edge swimming pool.
Master The Table Tennis Game
Also known as ping pong, Table tennis is an indoor game that is played by two or sometimes four players that hit a very small, light ball back and forth using bats. The surface used to play the game is usually raised to the height of a normal table and is made of wood. A net divides the table into two sided and these depict the different sides where the two players or four incase of a doubles match play from. The game is played in the Olympics and is played all over the world and has different competitions. The table used in table tennis has specific measurements. Its height from the floor has to be 72cm, its width 152.5cm and its length 274cm and the net’s height is 15.25cm. The bat used to hit the ball is usually covered with a thin sheet of rubber but is made of wood. There are regulations in place that stipulate requirements about the bats, the table, the net and the rules of the game. To get a clear picture of what these stipulations are it is wise to get hold of a ping pong instructional DVD that has laid out all the necessary details. To master table tennis, playing skills and tips are better learnt and put into use. For instance, the game is started by a serve. This is the start of a point which you are awarded should your opponent fail to correctly return or toss the ball back to your side of the netting. The ball should be hit in such a way that it should bounce twice, once on your side of the netting and the other in the other player’s side. If the ball being served hit the net but proceeds to the other half, it is called a net-in or let. This necessitates that the serve be repeated. However if the ball hits the net and remains in the half of the server, it is a lost serve and the opponent if then given the chance to serve. A point is earned when the server serves the ball and the opponent faults. Other recognized faults include if the ball bounces more than once on the same side, hitting the ball twice, if the ball does not land on the opponent’s half once it is served among others. Further tips and instructions may be found in table tennis DVD.
