For the serious baseball fan and the collector of baseball cards, there’s only one question that you have to ask yourself. Is your baseball card collection complete? Do you have at least one of the acclaimed Babe Ruth baseball cards in your collection?

This is a fair question to ask of any serious collector, and you will find that mostly the answer will be a resounding yes! Any avid baseball card collector worth his salt will have at least one, maybe more, Babe Ruth baseball cards in his possession. .

No matter what name George Herman Ruth Jr. is known by, Babe Ruth, The Babe, The Sultan of Swat, The Great Bambino, he is and forever will be immortalized as one of the greatest baseball players to walk this earth.

These are all names that are synonymous with that greatest of all baseball players, Babe Ruth, and if you ask anyone – be it a baseball fan or not – they will have heard at least one of these nicknames.

And in one of the most fitting tributes of all for a baseball player, The Babe has been immortalized in not only the Baseball Hall of Fame, but also on the face of many baseball cards. It is these Babe Ruth baseball cards which are as much after now as they were 80 years ago.

Definitely deserving his title as the Sultan of Swat, Babe Ruth batted an average of .342, and 714 home runs amongst other accomplishments to his illustrious name. Babe Ruth baseball cards are valued as much as for what The Babe brought to each game, as for what he did to revitalize the declining game of baseball.

With a scandal only just behind it, baseball had almost nothing to look forward to until The Babe literally stepped up to the plate. And from there, history was made and baseball hasn’t looked back since. This is why Babe Ruth baseball cards are also sought after collector’s items.

It can also be said that with the revitalization of baseball, that the Babe infused much needed force into the game which forced other players to step up to the standards which he so seamlessly set.

And just as baseball today would not be the same without the infusion Babe Ruth’s energy, so too would no true ardent baseball card collector’s collection be complete without at least one or two of Babe Ruth baseball cards – most noticeably that of the 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #53 card – along with that most holiest of holy grail baseball cards, the Honus Wagner card.

There are many baseball players that are considered as being favorites of their fans. While these people are famous among their fans, to become truly famous it is necessary to have a baseball card made of themselves. These baseball cards range in value depending on the player that is depicted on the card. One of the most famous baseball cards is that of the Honus Wagner baseball card.

This card is considered among the collectors of baseball cards to be the Holy Grail among baseball cards. There are many theories as to the popularity of the Honus Wagner baseball card. One of the reasons may have to do with the amount of cards that are readily in existence. Since baseball cards are usually printed in large amounts the lack of Honus Wagner baseball cards may be considered as being the reason for collectors desiring to find and buy this card.

To make you understand this point even more clearly you need to know that there were only 60 of these printed. Out of the 60 there are only 50 cards that can be found. When a Honus Wager card is discovered there is a general excitement. Honus Wagner is well known among baseball fans by his reputation as the Flying Dutchman.

During the entire span of his career Honus played just about every position on the field. He is well known for stolen bases, home runs which at that time in baseball history were very rare. Additionally Honus Wagner had the ability of hitting triple runs as well as the usual home runs.

To give you an idea of how valuable a Honus Wagner baseball card you will find that the current going price for a baseball card is about the 2.35 million US Dollars. The only other baseball card which comes close to this card is that of the Babe Ruth rookie card. When you look at this card you will discover that the number owners for a Honus Wagner baseball card were well known celebrity persons.

The past owners of this card are the shopping conglomerate Wal-Mart, Canadian hockey legend Wayne Gretzky, and finally LA Kings owner Bruce McNall. Besides these many groups a Honus Wagner was also owned by a Las Vegas casino owner. This enterprising individual used to display his Honus Wagner baseball card in various places and functions.

The value of this card can be attributed to the better quality of the Honus Wagner baseball card as compared to other cards. To make sure that the Honus Wagner baseball card is kept safe cards like this are kept safely within Lucite sheeting. For all of these reasons you can see why a Honus Wagner baseball card is thought of by baseball cards fans as being the Holy Grail among baseball cards.

Baseball collectible enthusiasts have an appetite for more than just playing cards. The memorabilia that’s now being sought after spans the spectrum from bobble heads, bats, gloves, jerseys to autographed balls, caps and even action figures.

Of course the best kind of baseball collectible is the one you were able to secure for yourself – having a baseball player sign an autograph is a memory you won’t soon forget.

But for many fans of the sport, baseball collectibles can only be obtained through online purchases or the occasional gift a loved one presented to them. Memorabilia is often passed down from generation to generation, increasing the value of the baseball collectibles throughout the years.

It’s just the monetary value of the memorabilia that makes it so special. Baseball is America’s favorite past time, and baseball collectibles often provide fond memories of warm summer nights and good times spent with friends and family.

When it comes to keepsakes, the barriers of team against team break down because fans often appreciate the value of a baseball collectible regardless of what team the item originated from.

While cards used to be the primary starter kit for any fan wishing to amass a collection of baseball memorabilia, today’s collectors focus on a variety of mementos. Vintage equipment, pins, and pennants are a staple of many fans’ baseball collectibles.

Anything carrying an autograph from a player, such as a cap, call, or glove is a prized possession when it comes to baseball collectibles. Bobbing (or bobble head) dolls of players are extremely popular, circulating from as early as the 1950s when baseball was as much a part of every American family’s life as the food on their dinner table.

Some fans like to approach their baseball collectibles from the standpoint of team memorabilia, focusing on an entire assortment of Yankee or Red Sox souvenirs. Others prefer to simply collect items from major players of any team, as long as the player made an impact on the game itself.

While modern day figures may not fetch as much as the ones who made this game so popular in the beginning, that hasn’t deterred loyal fans from scooping up keepsakes from the headliners of today. Not only are baseball collectibles a good investment of memorabilia, but many fans enjoy the fun they have tracking down special and unique pieces to preserve over the years and pass down to their own heirs.

Hockey has been around for what seems like forever. The league was organized in 1917 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada after the suspension of operations of its predecessor organization, the National Hockey Association (NHA), which had been founded in 1909. It started with four teams and, through a series of expansions, contractions, and relocations, the league is now composed of 30 teams active franchises. As Canadians, we’re proud to say that hockey is our game, it originated in Canada and has a rich history and people feel a special passion for it. If you are Canadian chances are you have a favorite team, and if you do, chances are that team is one of the remaining six teams residing in Canada. Your team is a team that is cheered for through the good times and the bad. As hockey fans, we take pride in our teams and many of us enjoy the hobby of hockey memorabilia collecting. One prominent collecting item is the hockey card. The hard core hockey fans who enjoy hockey card collecting has seen many changes in the industry from the early days of Parkie collecting, to present times which features the hockey hobby box.

In today’s hockey card market, we see several different brands featuring a huge range of different types of cards. If you look at the market from the hockey hobby box perspective and not by the pack, we see product prices which range from twenty dollars all the way to eight and nine hundred dollars. We see the basic principles of supply and demand at play in today’s market. Cheaper products seem to have a much larger production run, while expensive products have limited production. As a diehard collector, the thrill of getting a rare card out of a box is something that can’t be explained through words. Every day we see collectors posting online in blogs and forums about the special rare card that they pulled from a hockey box. Through rare cards we achieve great value in what we attained. Camp and monetary values can be found in hockey cards.

You may ask why card companies bother to produce the low end products which feature little to no value to the seasoned collector. The key word there is seasoned. We all remember being children and collecting those cheap hockey cards for the thrill of the hobby. This is still alive in children in today’s market. Companies realize how much hockey cards can mean to a child. This is why we see hockey card packs for sale still at our local corner store. Today’s market is set up so that the seasoned collector can enjoy buying limited, expensive products and enjoy the rare and special cards attained. Fortunately, the young can still enjoy pulling that special card from affordable attainable packs. Young, old, rich, and poor can all join in on the thrill of collecting the cards from our favorite teams in the NHL.

It seems that since hockey had been reborn in the 2005 season, we’ve seen an uptick in hockey card interest. Remember, the 2004 season never happened. There was no hockey for over a year. The new generated interest can be attributed in part to the new young superstars in the league, as well as the fact that we as Canadians really missed the game that we love. For whatever reasons we have, we love the game of hockey and our hockey cards. The hockey hobby box lives on and just keeps getting better.
